What client language/toolkits are you using for iControl development?
Hi everyone, I was just wondering what client languages/toolkits you all are using for building your iControl apps. Here's my main list in order of the frequency I use them.
- PowerShell -> iControl Cmdlets
- C/.Net -> iControl Assembly
- Perl -> SOAP::Lite
- Java -> iControl Library for Java (Apache Axis based)
Take a second if you would and reply to this thread and let's see how big a list we can come up with.

- Steve_Brown_882Historic F5 AccountMost of the scripts have done real work with have been written in python as I decided to learn python when I started playing with iControl. That said I have also played with done a very little with Perl and Powershell as well.
- JRahmAdmin
- Python -> pycontrol v2
- Powershell ->iControl.dll
- JT_106685NimbostratusI'm using C as I many of my users are admins and I don't want to embed credentials into a clear text language.
- L4L7_53191NimbostratusJoe: do I really need to even answer this one :)
- Lee_Payne_53457CirrostratusI use c mainly because I give our developers access and they need to bulk enable and disable pool members (each server is a member of 10+ pools)
- HamishCirrocumulusPerl. SOAP::Lite
- Steffen_Beach_8NimbostratusC -> iControl Assembly
- adurstewitz_188NimbostratusJava -> iControl Library for Java (Apache Axis based)
- George_Watkins_Historic F5 AccountRuby -> iControl library :-)
- Chris_15024NimbostratusTesting out using the native JAVA API inside Jython versus pyControl. It is a little cleaner and less stuff needs to be loaded into the jython installation, plus we still get to use Python syntax to fit in with an existing solution. Been working like a charm.
