Websense iApp profile vs. Pool configuration
Hi all,
I have a basic virtual server on port 80 forwarding to a group of 6 Websense gateways (e.g a pool containing 6 nodes that are the Websense proxies). The F5 Websense content gateway iApp template has been used for configuration but we are getting significantly lower throughput on these brand new F5's than we are on much, much older Cisco CSS's!
I'm trouble shooting this for a colleague and I've noticed that whilst the VS is configured to use a Pool with 6 nodes the iApp configuration he's using only contains a single Websense box so which would the f5 follow, the iApp or the Pool?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

Hi Jay
I cannot tell from your description whether your colleague configured the VS or pool with 6 nodes inside or outside the iApp. The application may be configured either way, but mixing the two methods can be lead to confusion.
The intent of the iApp is for the user to specify everything within the template, and let the iApp create the VS and pool. If your colleague did this, and only specified only 1 pool member, then the VS is forwarding to only 1 server. This particular template has no method for specifying an outside pool, so all pool members must be listed in the template's "Websense Server Pool" section.
If you need more assistence, just re-post, and please explain whether your configuration is intended to be iapp-driven or not, and what has been entered into the template.
Regards, Fred
