WA Performance

Hi,

I am trying to evaluate webaccelerator and have done the below.

One IIS application hosted on IIS 6.0

LTM + WA 9.4.4 using standard IIS policy.

I am using Truespeed to test the performance on a 100ms latency link for 10 iterations and using synthetic agents for testing.

First test was carried out without HTTP class profiles (which effectively disables any WA optimization).

Second test was carried out with HTTP class profiles and WA enabled.

I am surprised to see that i saw quite some performance decline in second test (with WA enabled).

Need some pointers on how i can troubleshoot this...

TIA,

Ravi
  • Hi Ravi,

Did you prime the cache prior to running the second test? The first request for an object will always result in a proxy to the origin server for the content. The acceleration rules defined in the policy will then impact whether or not WebAccelerator will cache that content and for how long. If the content is cacheable the second request for that content will be served from cache, as long as it hasn't expired. When testing the response times of pages with WebAccelerator I always recommend running 2 test runs prior to a timed run to prime the cache.
