Hi,
Virtual Server IP status indicator is "Offline (Enabled) - Red", as the children pool member(s) are down. The VIP is redirecting the traffic to a diff site bcoz of an iRule.
Will the VIP respond to ICMP requests when it's offline(enabled), redirection enabled with an irule and backend servers are marked down ?.

You will able to ping virtual IP even though the virtual server is slowing down.

I understand the context but what is your problem?
as long as you create a VIP it will respond to the ping even if it is down (if you let defaul configuration for virtual IP).
however if you have a maintenance page in case your nodes are downs, the irule will Work.

I was checking the config on LTM and was not sure why the VS was responding to the ICMP echo request when its marked as offline, but now it's clear that it's due to ICMP echo response option setting.
