Using SHA256

We are using a Linux based trusted client for remote users to access the network. The original idea to use certificates on the trusted clients has not been successful as the machine cert check is not supported on Linux. As an alternative I am looking at MD5 or SHA files as a check and the SHA256 is the option of choice. can any advise on how they would go about using this as a security check for a device.

Hello. I don't think SHA256 works as a file check in F5 APM (assuming that is what you are using) but MD5 checksum is supported. Info on APM file checks is here. Also I am not sure what the capability is of the Linux client but if they have a web browser you could use personal certificates for authentication / validation?
