Using BIG-IQ 5.0 to install hotfixes

Hey DevCentral,

I am able to push base code upgrades in BIG-IQ 5.0, but it appears I am unable to install a fresh copy of the base code and then the hotfix on top of it, as if you were doing it one by one. I cannot seem to find any articles on it. Am I missing something or is this not available in 5.0?

  • Do you have both the base image and the hotfix image on the BIG-IQ? I've done this type of upgrade with 5.0 a number of times without incident. What sort of errors are you getting?

This is more of a how-to kind of question...I can't find any information on it on AskF5. But I did figure it out.

It seems that the process doesn't work exactly as it would if you were doing it in BIG-IP, where normally you'd install the base image, then the hotfix separately.

In BIG-IQ, it looks like you do a Manageed Device Install of the hotfix, and it deletes the volume that was in the selected volume previously, installs the base image, then the hotfix.
