Thanks, actually I am bit confuse about these two commands, one without formatting and another one with format

image2disk --instslot=HD1.2 BIGIP-10.2.4.

image2disk --instslot=HD1.2 --format=partitions BIGIP-10.2.4

Also in the document there is a warning message mentioned as below

Warning: If you are upgrading to BIG-IP version 10.1 or later and you plan to maintain a mixed 9.x and 10.x environment, you must reformat the drive for the larger, version 10.1.x partition size. You cannot simply upgrade to version 10.1.x if you are using partitions. The 10.1.x versions of the software do not fit in partitions created with version 9.x or 10.0.x disk formatting.
