Upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4.1 -Source Template Has Changed

I have upgraded from 11.3 to 11.4.1 and now my f5.microsoft_exchange_2010_2013_cas.v1.2.0 applications all show - Source Template Has Changed [Update Application]. I can test in a dev environment but wanted to ask if anyone else has run into this and what their experience was after the Update Application.

Thanks

Krum

  • Hi,

This is expected behavior. After any upgrade of BIG-IP, all the deployed iApps will indicate that the source template has changed. Nathan is correct that if you've disabled strictness and made changes, reconfiguring the deployment will overwrite those changes.

    thanks

If you have disabled Strict Updates and then Update the application then you lose any custom configurations. that's what i experienced anyway!

Hi , then how do we preserve our customized changes did long ago in past but don't remember, if while doing this one is not aware what customization has been done.on iApp,default, this is huge challenge :(

To prevent your changes from being overwritten, you can go to the reconfigure tab and select "None - Do not use a template" from the template drop-down. To see the differences, you could deploy another instance of the same iApp with the same choices. If you log into tmsh and change to the iApp folder, then run "list", you can run a diff on the output for both iApps to see the differences.

Hi Mike, I came to this page again to seek your help as you wrote above, which I need today as well that "list" to see the difference. can you give me the example, I have partition name "SSM_Live" and iApp name as "WEB-8444-LB" with VIP as 10.1.0.8 port 8444 and router domain as 1702. if possible can you give me the CLI steps to check as you suggested above.
