Upgrade BIG-IP LTM 6400 to 10.2.4 HF9.

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade a BIG-IP LTM 6400 with partition formatting scheme to the last HF9 unsuccessfully. I followed the SOL11033 and this is the output of the "watch bigpipe software status show" command:

SOFTWARE - Status: +-> SOFTWARE STATUS | Key Slot Product Version Build Active Status | HD1.1 0 BIG-IP 10.2.4 855.0 no failed (Can't find requested disk | HD1.2 0 BIG-IP 10.2.4 847.0 yes complete

I also have a BIG-IP LTM 6400 in volumes in which I upgraded to HF9 from gui without any problem. Does someone already tried it in a partition formatting scheme unit?

Many thanks in advance

Gerardo

  • Hi Gerardo,

    Did you ever get this resolved? Trying to do the exact same upgrade and getting the same result here. Very frustrating.

    Thanks, B

  • can you open a support case to verify if it is bug 485936? if yes, they could be able to provide you engineering hotfix or workaround.

    ID485936 10.2.4 HF9 rollup breaks support for partitioned disk format

  • Thanks a ton! I am working with Support and they've not yet hinted toward this. But I am almost positive there is some core issue with this hotfix and our 6400(s). I've tried the HF9 upgrade several times and every time the liveinstall.log shows disk device partitioning errors consistently. I will notify our support rep of the bug you've mentioned here and keep my fingers crossed! If this is it, then you have been incredibly helpful! Either way thank you so much for your help. Will keep you guys posted!

    There was another similar thread before: HF9 is broken if you are upgrading from a non-volume, i.e. partition-based, setup.

  • Yep, I got the 10.2.4 Engineering Hotfix (HF9-255.15) from F5 Support. We'll be installing it next week.

    Thanks to all on this thread for pointing me in the right direction. F5 Support was not able to get to the root of this before I was able to do so here in the forums.

  • Alright guys, so I finally got around to installing Engineering Hotfix 9 (10.2.4 Build 855.15) last night and it went without a hitch. Thanks again to all for your help! This thread saved me from what was sure to be several additional hours of frustration as I worked through the lower support tiers.
