NimbostratusUpdate BigIP LTM 4000 from Ver. 11.4.1 to Ver. 11.6.0 HF1
Dear all,
in order to update our active/standby devices from 11.4.1 to 11.6 HF1
we followed these steps for the standby 4000:
1. Reactivation of license ie The Service Check date was updated
Licensed Version 11.2.1
Registration key xxxxxxxxxxx
Licensed On 2013/12/09
Service Check Date 2014/10/20
Platform ID C113
Appliance Serial Number f5-xxxxxxx
2. Activation of the 11.6 HF1 boot location
Unfortunately the system didn't come up completely with 11.6 the GUI said Config Utility restarting......
Accessing the 4000 by putty shows us the message "SW version not covered by service agreement.
Reactivate license before continuing"
Indeed by running "show sys license" the Service Check Date was changed to 2013/12/09:
Licensed Version 11.2.1
Registration key xxxxxxxx
Licensed On 2013/12/09
Service Check Date 2013/12/09
Platform ID C113
Appliance Serial Number f5-xxxxx
What are we doing wrong?

when you says "Activation of the 11.6 HF1 boot location" you mean 11.6 is already installed on another boot location ? if yes in this case you may had installed 11.6 before you did the re activation.
so you should re install 11.6 on another boot location (redo the upgrade process).

SOLVED!
From 11.4.1 we updated FIRST to 11.6
From 11.6.0 we updated THEN to 11.6HF1
Our former procedure from 11.4.1 DIRECTLY to 11.6HF1 failed
Next step is to force the active 11.4.1 into standby - the actual
standby will become active (we hope...) and to repeat the same
procedure.

InnOJust to add a quick note : successfully directly upgraded from 11.4.1 HF7 to 11.6.0 HF3.

We are thinking about doing this but having just done a 10.2.4 to 11.4.1 are concerned re. deprecated iRules and ASM functionality?- InnOYes, it went pretty straight forward but I have a single weird issue in APM with a custom application in there where APM session are now duplicated, and I cannot find why.
