Pleas share the RFC you have referenced.

 

There is no domain name settings in ASM. Did you mean hostname?

 

You must always share the error message you see.

 

In my Lab, I get error message: Could not add the Valid Host Name 'test_in.com'. Failed validating value 'test_in.com' for Host Name: The value must be a valid host name or a valid IP address.

 

Did you see the same?

 

I recommend opening a case with f5 support in order to get information.
