EmployeeZuke, you may have answered this but I didn't see it. Can I assume this is a non-browser client? A browser would usually issue a certificate warning to the user and allow the user to bypass the error. A browser client would likely never send this:

value certificate_unknown
which basically implies that the client (C>S) does not trust the itsdtest.example.com server certificate.
