SOLUTION: How to copy custom dashboard settings to another BIG-IP device

Problem: When you create custom views in the BIG-IP Dashboard, the custom views configuraion is not automatically copied to other devices in the device group. I was searching for a solution on the web but could not find it.

 

Solution: The solution is described on the Dashboard customization help page on the BIG-IP itself. Under "Custom View Controls > Export View Set:

 

To import the exported file onto another BIG-IP system, use SCP or another file transfer tool to copy the file to the following location on the second system: /config/dashboard/viewSets. Change the ownership of the file to tomcat.

 

To see the imported viewSet on the dashboard of the second BIG-IP system, you may need to restart the dashboard or go to design view."

 

That's it. I did not test yet if the custom Dashboard configuration persists across upgrades.
