I experience extreme slow responce in v7 pws when access local hard disk. It gives a green bar in the top of the windows explorer. It seems that the problem is occurred on vista and win7. Any suggestion to improve performance?

No idea really, I do not have that occurring on my machine. What are your system specs and have you tried .1 hotfix? - Alex_Ng

I already use the .1 hotfix.
I tested v7 pws no problem in testbed PC with 3GHz CPU and brand new installed OS. However, I experienced the problem on a Vista Notebook, a Win 7 64-bits Notebook and a Win 7 Netbook. On the Netbook, I could not view the content of the directory while I needed to wait for several minutes for the cases on those Notebook computers.
I stopped the Windows Search service but it could not help much. I reclone images on the Netbook. After that, I could view the content of the directory but I needed to wait for around 1 minute. - Mike_61719

Hmm, well I can check again. I would make a case with support, they probably want you to do a few hard traces on the PC to see which process or service is causing the problem. - Alex_Ng

It takes 1-2 minutes to display desktop icons after enter pws.
For computer with Intel Core i3 1.5GHz CPU, the process of explorer keeps at 25% CPU when I access local directory. For computer with Intel Atom 677MHz CPU, the process of explorer keeps at 50% CPU when I access local directory. They drop after I can see the directory content. It seems that pws is very CPU intensive but I just access local file only. Any suggestion to improve performance? - Alex_Ng

The problem was fixed in HF4 (ID347809-Improve speed of encryption routines in Protected Workspace). - Mike_61719
