Setting monitor_down vs monitor & session down

Hi folks,

 

 

I have code that sets monitor state down as well as session enabled state down to take a member out of rotation. I am, however, integrating with some code that only sets the monitor down and does not touch session enabled state. I want to make the change so I only use monitor and not session enabled state. What are the things that I should worry about when I make this change because our code has worked well so far?

 

 

Going through the documentation, I understood that it's a difference between new connections and new sessions, but couldn't gather a lot more than that.

 

 

To achieve this, I will only be using iControl's set_monitor_state and getting the monitor state -- would that suffice for OOS and in service?
