Separate pool for image content and monitoring

Hi,

 

As a newbie I am not sure what is best practice for configuration like that:

 

1. VS with default pool serving all content except images

    

2. Images for this VS served from separate pool?

    

I assume that point 2 above can be implemented using Local Traffic Policy (or of course iRule). If for example another pool should be selected when:

 

URI contains /img or ends with .jpg or starts with /folder1/images/

 

In Local Traffic Policy three rules should be added then for each of above conditions?

 

Then what is best way to monitor such setup. Let's say that pool serving images has no members up, in such situation all members of the default VS pool should be as well set down.

 

Is there a way to achieve that without using iRule or that is only way?
