self IP as a default gw failover guestion

Hi, we used to inline topology for our system that we have servers default gateway to F5 self IP address and system is working but i'll have a question here. when it is failover F5 we will change f5 self IP and we always have to change the default gw of the servers? because it will no longer be able to reach that existing self IP. when server default gw floating IP didn't work Could you please help?
