Selective compression over two virtual server doesn't work

I want to use selective compression over two vip's. One virtual server (public vip) redirect the request to an internal virtual server. When I now try to compress the content on the internal server it doesn't work. Both vip's are configured identically. The compression only work within the public virtual server. Works as designed?
