Remove GTM from Sync Group

We are having network work coming up and are wanting to remove one of the GTMs (have 2) form the Sync group.

 

We have GTM1 at datacenterA and GTM2 at datacenterB. We want to avoid a split brain scenario while this L2 work is occuring.

 

I am wondering how I would go about removing the GTM2 from the sync group "GTM" and then add back after the work is complete?
