Apr 23, 2008Remote_addr IP Addtess
I'm new with F5 loadbalancing and just installed our BIPIP last week using test web servers. I found that the Remote_Addr variable now returns the Self IP address instead of the actual user/client's IP address. According to our web developers, they are using the Remote_addr variable in their applications.
My question is how can we get the Remote_addr back to what it was prior to F5?

If you're finding that the REMOTE_ADDR CGI variable on the server being load balanced has changed to the BIG-IP self IP, it's because the BIG-IP is performing source address translation on requests sent to the pool.
Take a look at this post (Click here) for additional detail and options for handling this.
