Aug 03, 2010Redundant Port on F5
Hi All
I am new about F5 and having a question. Really hope if there is someone can help me to answer it.
The question is below.
Since there are several ports on F5. Is it possible for me to create a logic port which have two physical interfaces sharing one IP address?
Note:
These two interfaces should have one as active and another one is on standby mode. Once one of the port is down, another one could take over.
I know there are some info on the internet but after reading them, I am still confused.
Above all, does F5 supports function I said? If it is yes, hope someone can give me some suggestion.
Thank you very much all and hope to see your response.:-P

The best way to do this is to configure a trunk on your F5 that contains the two ports. You then add the trunk to the proper VLAN (the one on which your self-ip is listening) and you're set. The problem with this is that both interfaces are active. If you want one to automatically take over, you could probably configure some spanning tree magic on the switch side.
