Reducing disk size
I have BIG-IP VM with LAB License.
By default when I import, it will have 2 HD.
I increase those 2 HD to HD1.1=110GB, HD2.1=50GB. HD1.1 has content but HD2.1 is empty and no volume name
QUESTIONS:
-
Can I reduce back the HD? I have idea by DD content of HD1.1 into HD2.1 and boot from HD2.1 Is that doable? Will it change UUID or MAC address. As you know VM license will depend on UUID and MAC address.
-
Can I format HD2.1 using this command (tmos) install sys software image BIGIP-11.3.0.2806.0.iso volume HD2.1 create-volume
thanks

Hi nbctcp,
shrinking the size of a hard disk is not supported, please refer https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/14000/900/sol14952.html ("Note: The shrinking of disk size is not supported, because the majority of hypervisors do not support disk shrinking.").
The HD2 is optional, but reserved for special module needs (https://support.f5.com/content/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/ve-vmware-esx-esxi-11-3-0/_jcr_content/pdfAttach/download/file.res/BIG-IP_Virtual_Edition_Setup_Guide_for_VMware_ESXi.pdf, "About the hypervisor guest definition requirements"). As far as I know you cannot use it for TMOS software installations - never tried it.
Greets, svs
