RDP issue via Firepass

Hi Guys,

I am having issues in connecting to my RDP via Firepass thin client.

OS - Windows XP

IE - v8

i have the following add ons

1. F5 networks auto update

2. F5 networks cachecleaner

3. F5 networks dynamic application tunnel control

4. F5 networks host control

when ever i try to connect i see the following error

"Sorry, activex control is required to view the page" i have kept the security level to low and disabled pop-ups, enabled java scripting in the browser, it really annoys me, help apreciated.

I havealso tried using Windows 7, it connects sporadically, but most it fails saying "Couldnt connect to Terminal Server" i also notice some error related to Tunnel server, in windows 7

below is the IE debug log for win XP.

Thanks

  • I would imagine it is due to the fact you are going from IE7 to IE8 or the other way. Reset IE to defaults and remove any compatibility settings you have. Try to logon once again.
  • I even tried it using firefox, i am able to connect sporadically in Windows 7, mostly i get the error "Couldn't connect to terminal server", firefox on XP doesnt connect at all.

That does not matter, can you try to do the suggested piece? Also make sure you have http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884020 installed.
  • I'm having this same issue with Windows 7. UAC is set to the lowest setting, and I've added the site to trusted sites list. Added site to pop-ups list as well. When I type in the host name and hit connect under "Direct Connect" I get the pop-up window with the following message:

Sorry. ActiveX control is required to view this page

This is Windows 7 Ultimate x64, using browser IE 8 ... build 8.0.7600.16385

All windows updates have been played.
  • ok, i went back to my XP machine, uninstalled IE8 and installed IE7, i have the F5 plugin's installed, when i launch the firepass client. the cache cleaner popup window comes up... loads after 20 secs it looks like it gets minimized, but its gone i cannot find that popup.

i made sure popup blockers are disabled, this is confirmed because the cache cleaner popup loads initally otherwise it wouldnt. since the cache cleaner popup automatically closes, the main IE where it launches my RDP connection say "Sorry. ActiveX control is required to view this page" i think the cache cleaner popup window needs to saty for the firepass VPN client to work.

I tried in IE6 and the situation is same, firefox 3.0 it says the control is damaged.

Guys please help, i need to get this working.

This has nothing to do with UAC, can you please post your UAS and then list if you have compatibility mode turned on for the website?
