Pool Monitor port

Like Ace load balancer if we are configuring advanced monitor and assigned that monitor to pool or pool members.Load balancer will start to sending request to that port no only if we did not assigned port then it will monitor to service port if service port is also select 0 and that time it will start to monitor to Virtual listening port.

Do we have similar feature in BIGIP???????????If yes

How does BIGIP monitor to pool member if i select Virtual server with port service is any.

Thanks in advance

  • You can monitor the pool members themselves, but not the services on those members if you specify 'any' service port on your pool.

For example, you could configure an ICMP monitor to just ping the pool members, or an external monitor to run some type of script directly against the server IP address. You still have options, just maybe not as robust or easy to implement.

  • In general virtual servers with port service 'any' tend to be forwarding virtual servers, so gateway_icmp is sufficient to monitor the reachability of the next-hop IP.
