Peformance collection/threshold

Hi all

i m having trouble trying to enable certain performance collection/threshold rule for the LTM node or LTM Pool member objects. I have followed the instructions provided here but the performance data are not appearing in the performance view or health explorer. Anything missing in the instructions provided?

regards

Bao

The instructions (Click here) should be fine, as long as the overrides are configured to target "All objects of another type" and the target points to an F5 Device derived object/entity. After the overrides have been set you can immediately refresh the collection of the related stats by forcing the f5mpcmd /rcr command (see the instructions in the article mentioned above), otherwise the refresh cycle could take up to 5 minutes. If you still can't get the stats, could you please drop the override summary here for some of the rules you're trying to collect, to get a better idea of how they're configured.
  • Hi Julian

    example:

LTM Node Server Packets In (avg/sec) rule

    Override:

    Type Name Parameter Changed Value

Type F5 LTM Node Enabled True

    or

LTM Pool Member Server Bytes In (avg/sec) rule

    Override:

    Type Name Parameter Changed Value

Type F5 LTM Pool Member Enabled True

    are these correct?

    regards

The overrides look fine. Have you tried to run the 'Refresh F5 Device Collection Rules' task, in the Ops Mgr actions pane? Do you see any errors in the related task output window?

The error you posted shows that for some reason the F5 Management Pack service could not [temporarily] communicate with the SCOM Health Service (OpsMgr Health Service).

Let's try to do this, to be able to better diagnose the problem: restart the OpsMgr Health Service, followed by re-starting the F5 Monitoring Service, and if the problem persist, please attach a copy of the "trace.log" file that is in your %Program Files%\F5 Networks\Management Pack\Logs directory. This will provide us with more information to help troubleshoot your situation.

Also, could you please specify more information about the environment you're testing with? If it's a distributed management server environment, we'd like to know the basic topology involved (RMS, MS, SQL-Server). On the management server host, where you discovered the devices (and running the F5 Monitoring Service) you can run a system information utility (Click here) that would provide us even more information for troubleshooting (please attach the output file to this post).
