OSX support

Hi all,

I hope this is the correct fourm for this question. We use a Firepass to controll remote access to our internal systems. This has been working well when people were using Windows based systems, however the company is now allowing users to run OSX. When a OSX user connects to the firepass and try to launch the remote dekstop link we have setup for them and new browser window is opened but nothing is displayed. They have tried Safari and Firefox, both end up doing the same. I am assuming the remote desktop applet is for Windows based systems only. Am I right in assuming this? If so does anyone know if F5 intend to add OSX support to the remote desktop/vnc clients?

Regards

  • Ok, found out I can specify the JAVA client when setting up the RDP and VNC short cuts. RDP seems to work ok but the VNC client still doesn't work, but at least one connection method is now working.

  • Let's just say the MAC and java settings leave much to be desired. I would highly recommend that you direct users to download the Microsoft RDP client for MAC, it beats rdesktop in terms of speed and performance. After they download the client you can kick off an application tunnel that launches the microsoft RDP client. The Java/MAC combination on the Firepass is not enterprise ready.
  • Hi Mike,

yes, it does seem a bit flakey. Also I couldn't get the java VNC client to work either. I'll giver the mac rdp client a shot.
