Oracle ODA and Application Server configuration

Hi All,

I am after some advice please. We have an Oracle application, there are 2 ODA's and 2 Windows 2008 R2 application servers. We have an HA Pair of LTM's running v11.3.

The F5's are the gateway for the vLAN where both the application servers and the ODAs are located. I have put the applications servers and the ODA on the same vLAN behind the F5 as I didn't require an load balancing between the applications server and the database server, I am only trying to load balance client traffic from users desktop to the application servers. I was never intending on load balancing the DB traffic.

We also have some test and Dev application servers that are located in a different site, these obviously connect to the ODA's directly, we are seeing issues with these connections dropping out.

We see these errors on the client. System.Data.OracleClient.OracleException (0x80131938): ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure

We have an allow everything virtual server, so I am guessing this is how the test and dev application servers connect direct to the ODA's.

Is there anything I need to do to ensure the application doesn't drop out?
