offloading ssl for metatrader 4 using bigip ltm

I'm trying to offload SSL for metatrader 4 (and soon metatrader 5) software using LTM however I haven't had any luck getting it working - does anyone have any experience getting this working? Right ...

config is a generic 11.6 fastl4 vip, pool consists of one node with a tcp check.

 

when i tested i tried two configurations

 

1) standard vip + clientssl and serverssl profiles + http profile 2) standard vip + clientssl and serverssl profiles

 

i have limited knowledge of the inner workings of the application, however i can say that when running curl against the address over layer4 will result in a timeout while running at layer7 (either configuration) will result in a connection refused. when using telnet, all three configurations result in a "connection closed by foreign host" after pressing enter once. i don't believe it's technically https so curl shouldn't work.
