Offline pool member still recieving traffic

Hi all,

I have recently set up a pool of WebLogic servers in our pair of 1600's running v11.2.1 HF3. I have a health monitor in place and everything is working as expected for that part.

However, when an instance is downed, either by the health monitor or by disabling/offlining in the GUI, the instance still recieves traffic. The traffic only seems to stop once a config sync takes place.

Is there any additional caching that would be causing this behavior?

Any info or advice would be greatly recieved.

Thanks, Anthony

  • Are you sure it's not just healthcheck traffic you are seeing? It's expected to see continue to see healthcheck traffic from the non-floating self-ips after a check fails.

If you have disabled the pool member and not performed a config-sync, you would expect healthchecks cease from the Active device, however the standby would not stop checking until after the config-sync.

  • Yep - so I reckon if you change to "Reselect" you'll be able to turn oneconnect back on.

  • If you have L7 persistence (like cookies) and you have requests being made over shared HTTP Keepalive connections (such as would come from a corporate proxy) then you need oneconnect to examine each HTTP request within a TCP stream individually. If you don't have persistence then you don't 'need' oneconnect.

It's also useful as it enables serverside connection re-use - you can hold open a pool of long-lived serverside connections and re-use them.
