  • nothing on askf5, nothing on google (except this question) so contacting support would be the next thing i would do.

  • you may open a case to verify if it is a bug 400693. anyway, it should be only warning message (i.e. no impact).

Bug 400693 - "No held transaction to sink" warning message when ASM blocks 100-continue transaction

  • We got the same issue (running 11.6.0HF5) and I did open a support ticket to confirm it is bug id 400693. This is what the support engineer told me:

The message "No held transaction to sink" is comestic and you can safely ignore it.

The meaning of the message is as follows: When ASM blocks an illegal transaction, ASM will put a blocking page in place of the transaction. It has to wipe the transaction it holds (which it called "sink") and starts a new transaction which will be the blocking page. In a 100 continuous blocking transaction, for some reason, ASM thinks that it does not have to "sink" anything since the headers are already released to server. [...]

Based on past cases, this message is known not to affect service traffic. So again, This comestic bug id is 400693 and you can safely ignore it.
