Network access error

I have tried the suggestions above, as well as uninstalling via the Info utility and reinstalling both via the interface as well as the Stand Alone client installer. No go. Another point of note is that the customized package for the standalone client installer never succeeds... and rolls back at the end. The user is a local admin, and the site is a trusted site in IE7. I have also tried installing / connecting via a different local user on the laptop, same results. The user is able to connect via a different PC fine. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
