nagios check for active/standby switch.

i'm looking to write a nagios check that will poll each unit in a pair every five minutes for their active/standby status. if unit 1 is in standby mode and/or unit 2 is in active mode then i want the script to send me an alert.

can i do this with snmp? i was looking for an oid for this data but haven't found it yet.

  • Yes, you can use snmp. The OID is sysAttrFailoverUnitMask (.1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.1.1.1.1.19.0), SOL6071 has more information about this.
