MTU Size for Management access via port 443

I am trying to attempt to access my management interface vis 443 (HTTPS) , the connection travels through a few routers and Kg's which only allow for a 1220 MTU , I set the Management MTU size to 1220 and also the vlan that it travels through to 1220, however when a tcp dump is performed it states that the MSS size is 1460 comming from the F5 and the connection fails ? any suggestions
