Move Self IP's into a route domain

Is it possible to update existing Self IP addresses into a different route domain? I'm running v11.2.

There's two ways to do this.

    1. The supported way. Delete your IP's move the VLAN's to another route domain and re-create the IP's.

    2. The unsupported way. Edit the config files using vi, then do a 'tmsh load sys config' (Then repeat the edit/load until you get the config right :)

  • so

    1. Will I be able to delete the self IP's with virtual servers on those networks?

    2. So just modify the self IP's and add the %ID to each one and load? I was wondering if that would work.

    1. Be able to? or have to? It's been a while since I had to split a BigIP into RD's... I THINK you can get away without deleting the VS's technically... However I'm not sure the GUI LETS you get away with it (But you can move VS's from one route domain to another by simply specifying the RD on the IP address with %RD... (e.g. when you type the wrong RD in or forget it when creating them).

If the IP's for your VS's are in a real VLAN, you may not. I usually configure on VS's on a non-existant VLAN which just happens to be routed to 'via' the BigIP.

2... Yep. And move the VLAN's to the RD as well...

  • I tried to edit the config by hand to move the objects to a new route domain, but it denies me when I load it. I've tried to restart too, but it seems to revert back to the previous config. Any ideas?
