Migration plan HA pair BigIp LTM 3400 and BigIp 1600

i assume you already got the 1600, because you are moving from an unsupported platform (3400) to one that won't be around for much longer either (1600).

as for your assumption that you can make a redundant pair with a 1600 and 3400 im not 100% sure. if you got a F5 partner or support contract with F5 i would certainly double check this

4) restore the configuration from the standby 3400 onto the 1600

might fail due to some difference in interfaces and such. be sure to take your time for this. if you have the 1600 you could already start testing now. perhaps use SCF or such so you can make changes easily.
