Migrating from 1600 series to 5050 series
We are planning to do an upgrade.Currently the appliance in the site is 1600 series with 11.6 HF04 running in one arm mode.We are planning to place a new appliance -5050 series to be run in one arm mode. If we take a backup from the old appliance for the new hardware , will it be compatible if we do a restore since its two different version ? What is the procedure that we need to follow, otherwise ?

Hello,
Yes it is possible to restore the configuration from the 1600 to the 5050 serie. You have to follow the restore procedure for RMA devices.
It is recommended to do the restore on the 5050 serie with the same version. 116HF04.
After that you can do an upgrade to a higher software version like 116hf6 or 12.

Hey Frans thanks for your help...the upgrade is done. Do you have any links that you can share with me for one arm mode and two arm mode implementation. The current customer site is in one arm mode and requires to be shifted to two arm mode. What is the necessary changes required for the same? I understant that one arm mode means all requests are hit back to Bigip and SNAT ing is done and in two arm mode, both the internal and external traffic flow through two different vlan . Kindly do add more of your understanding on the topic because am a bit confused after reading from the documents that i have found.
