Migrate vs Restore UCS
Hi
I've a question about upgrading 10.x to 11.x .
Is there difference result between migrate by install software from 10.x to 11.x ...and just restore config?
Thank you

Hi Teepan,
Absolutely. You cannot restore a UCS File from v10.x.x on a v.11.x.x system. The configuration files and system differences are too great.
You should still create a UCS File prior to upgrading the system, but this is in case you need to downgrade the system back to v10.x.x if the upgrade has issues or is unsuccessful.
Some differences just to name a few:
- Partition Names (even if there is only the Common Partition) become part of an object name. Example: vs_www.website.com will become /Common/vs_www.website.com on v11.
- HTTP Profile loses RAM Cache and Compression Settings.
- New Compression Profile is created (what was removed from the HTTP Profile).
- New WebAcceleration Profile is created (formerly RAM Cache from the HTTP Profile).
- SSL Certificates are no longer stored in the /config/ssl/ssl-crt or ssl-key directories (this is for new Certificates, not certificates that are on the system at the time of the upgrade).
These are only a few, but they are enough to prevent the old bigip.conf (which will be stored in /config/bigpipe/bigip.conf after your v11 upgrade) from being parsed and loaded into v11.x.x.
Hope this helps.
