MAC Flapping in VLAN Group with Translucent Transparency setting

Hi All,

Any one experience this before? I have set to use "Translucent" method to proxy the traffic and we see MAC flapping problem between two F5 HA Pair in one of the switch. The flapping MAC address if the virtual MAC address of the floating IP. However, when we change the Transparency mode to "Opague". The MAC flapping problem stopped.

  • I've encountered same issue, and traced it back to IPv6 ICMP ND messages, which are sent with U/L bit flipped in MAC address. And same U/L bit is flipped if frame traverses vlan-group in translucent mode, which causes same mac to be seen directly(ARP/IPv4 sent by local devices) and via cluster-mate(IPv6 ICMP ND messages that were forwarded via vlan-group). I've ended disabling IPv6 on devices(see sol15056).
