Mar 20, 2010LTM 10.0.1 VE working w/ ESX Server 3.5
Hello F5 Community.
I am attempting to get the LTM VE (Virtual Edition) to work on ESX 3.5
I took the .ova file and converted this using the Standalone Vmware Conversion Tool, and it loaded without any errors as a regular machine on the ESX Server
When I boot the system up it is unable to mount the filesystem with the proper UID. Video is in the link below:

The release notes say nothing pre 4.0 ESX will work, but I am looking for a workaround.

Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks!

Looks like you're using a virtual disk controller that isn't supported by the kernel. Change the controller to one of the other SCSI options (Possibly the LSILogic one)

I was not having much luck with VSphere on my hardware, so I had to go back to 3.5 and I finally sat down to see if it might work....
To confirm the above posts.
Download & unzip the ova
Download and install VMWare Converter Standalone
Use the converter to convert the virtual appliance to a virtual infrastructure virtual machine.
Go through the process of creating the new VM. After conversion go into Virtual Infrastructure Client and edit the SCSI adapterof the VM you created to be LSILogic. On first boot you will have to answer the prompt for changing the disk from BusLogic - accept it.
I have validated on ESX 3.5 update 4 and update 5.
Good luck...
