Lost root password for an F5 box.

Folks,

We have lost the root password for one of our F5 box, this is a F5 1500 or 1600 box. We still have the admin password with us. Any method of recovering this without a console?

regards, Nik.

  • Hi!

Create an admin user with advanced shell access or grant advanced shell access to admin Login via CLI and enter "passwd root". That will change your root password.

    Good luck!

  • You can change the root password from the GUI. Login with the admin account and navigate to System -> Platform. Edit and click 'update'

    • Replace root account with admin in Corys suggestion and you'll be able to change it. Good one Cory, did not think of that one.

Edited my post, as I incorrectly said to login with root instead of admin. There are multiple ways to do this, but this one is by far the easiest if you still have the admin password.
