F5 Big-IP i4600 Root Password Reset
Hello all,
I believe I am stuck in a nasty situation. We have two big-ip i4600s, and somewhere along the line, our documentation for the root password (serial console, configuration utility/GUI) are lost and as a result, I'm assigned the task of recovering/reset the password. I've done some digging, and it looks like I need the root password for the serial/command line at least. So at minimum, I need to recover/reset the serial console password.
What options do I have at this point? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
If you have lost both your admin and root passwords, you need to connect to the big-ip serial console and restart in single user mode in order to reset the root password, start form K73551536 for instructions.
If you have the admin password, then log into the gui then System > Platform and change root password.
Note: root can only log in from cli, never from gui
