Hi,

My F5 1500, BIG-IP 9.3.1 having the following problem.

Able to key in management IP in front panel and commit.

But unable to access through laptop. Ping to IP fail.

The IP will reset to 0.0.0.0 upon reboot of unit.

Any assistance on this matter?

    Hi there,

Are you using a cross over cable to connect the laptop to the MGMT port? The switch ports do auto-crossover so the cable doesn't matter for those, but the management port requires a crossover for a direct connection.

Are you able to access the unit via the serial port? You could check the management port status from there. Else, you might want to open a case with F5 Support.

  • Hi,

The management port is working in the beginning.

The issues happens after the management IP is updated.

Able to serial in, but no idea on how the command line works.

  • From console session, you can run "config" to configure the mgmt port setting. You can also see the mgmt port setting by running "ifconfig eth0".

How are you setting the management port IP address? If you set it via the command line you should either use config or b mgmt commands. You can get a list of the command options by running b mgmt help. If you make the change using b mgmt, you should use 'b base save' to write the changes from memory to the bigip_base.conf file.

Changes made via the GUI are made to the running config in memory and the config file(s).
