Aug 30, 2012Load balancing LDAP connections
I have been trying to configure a Virtual Host to load balance connections to a set of AD Domain controllers with no luck.
It sounds simple on the surface but I am just at a road block. Does anyone know of some example instructions for setting one up? We are on version 10.2.1, are there any templates that I could download for it?

Don't worry, It is simple. I have several I use.
I started out just with LDAP (tcp/389) and LDAPS (tcp/636) because there were some ldap based apps that wanted to access the AD servers and they didn't cope very well with servers not being available.
However it soon became apparent that some that needed he rest of the AD services ALSO needed this treatment. So I just added a port 0 VS with the LDAP and LDAP VS's and used the same LDAP monitor. Then added source IP persistence across a virtual address and let it go. Works like a charm. No special magic or even an iRule required.
