License re-activation and support license
Hi guys,
I have a few questions about license and upgrading:

When you do a license re-activation and do not have a valid support license, will the re-activation fail?

Will the running environment be affected in any way if the re-activation above fails?

If you do a license re-activation for an appliance and the support license is not valid, will the license last-activation-date remain the same on the appliance as before the re-activation attempt?

Lets say you run 11.2 on an appliance. Sometime between 12.0 and 13.0 the support license expired and was not extended. Is it still possible to upgrade to 12.0?

Go to cd /config Type below command before license reactivation and after reactivation
grep "Service check date" bigip.license
Before license reactivation : it should show last license renewal date After license reactivation: It should show today's date (If you have a valid support), if you do not have a valid support then license date will not change

Will the running environment be affected in any way if the re-activation above fails? It won't affect. I observed in myexperince some times device will not load configurations and a reboot is required.

Yes, it will remain same.
- Lets say you run 11.2 on an appliance. Sometime between 12.0 and 13.0 the support license expired and was not extended. Is it still possible to upgrade to 12.0?
if vendor support not renewed you will not be able to upgrade the device. If support contract is renewed and hardware supports 13.0 then you will be able to upgrade the device.
