Leap Second 2015
Hi everyone,
Nearly a month ago, Red Hat issued a technical bulletin for the "Leap Second 2015" issue as below:
At 11:59 UTC on June 30, 2015, clocks will count all the way up to 60 seconds. This is called a leap second and is inserted so that atomic time will exactly match the spin of the earth.
In previous instances of leap second insertion, this has caused kernel crashes and system hangs in Red Hat Enterprise Linux. In order to avoid these potential issues, we strongly recommend updating to the most recent kernels.
I have checked the kernel version on my customer's F% LTM devices and have found the following:
config bp version Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5.1.0.f5app
But I don´t know which Red Hat release it matches with (there is no "/etc/redhat-release" file)
Is there any official guideline from F5 regarding this alert? How do I know if my kernel is affected?
Thanks in advance, Regards
moog67
