Apr 18, 2008Issue with WM6 and F5 VPN client
I connect to firepass with a PDA running WM6.
Authentication works fine.
Click on Network connection and then I download the vpn client to the pda and install it.
When I click on the F5 VPN application and update the settings it still doesn't connect, when I go back to the settings they are all blank.
ANY IDEAS??? PLEASE HELP.....

- Colin_Walker_12Historic F5 AccountThis sounds like a case best handled by Technical Support. DevCentral is intended for coding and customization assistance, not day to day break-fix type solutions. for what it's worth i'm also having the same problem, i'm waiting for our support contract to be renewed so I can put it through tech support. If anyone comes up with a solution please post. - Andrey_Shigapo1Historic F5 AccountThere is a log file /Temp/f5SSLVPNlog.txt, although is is not user friendly, it could provide you with an additional information.
You will need to close SSL VPN Agent if you want to open it on a device
Start->Programs->"F5 SSL VPN Agent"->Menu->Exit - Fraser_30557

endy thanks for the info, but the logs don't really tell me much as far as i can see.
if I go to settings on the WM6 device and select to edit the "SSL_VPN_Connection" in the username/password screen it has:
username: a
password: ****************
domain: test.com
if I change these to my firepass logon details and click finish to save, then edit to go back in - the credentials default back to the above. Are the above credentials correct? Are credentials only taken from the agent?
Something I've noticed is that when I try and use the F5 agent to connect via my MW6 device, then check the firepass logs there is nothing. I suspect whatever is going wrong is within the mobile device. - Andrey_Shigapo1Historic F5 AccountF5 agent does not use credentials from SSL_VPN_Connection dialup entry, which contains bogus data to keep WM happy, you need to set credentials through "F5 Agent"->Menu->repair dialog box.
I absolutiely agree with you, that this is confusing. We are working on changing F5 Agent behavior to use credentials from Dial-up entry.
Did you configure Work URL exceptions ? Start->Settings->Connection tab->Connections->Advanced tab->Exceptions...
By default, WM will use VPN only for URL addresses not containing dots, so if you are using ip address or FQDN it will not work
For example, if you want all requests ending with intranet.company.com to go through VPN you should add the following entry *.intranet.company.com - chris_bigas_138

No answers yet guys, I've tried a few things with no success.
endy I do set credentials through "F5 Agent"->Menu- repair dilog box, but these don't seem to get saved.
I will update if successful. - keefyweefy

Hi
We have been troubled by this for some time. Today we made some progress. Here's how we now have this working:
If you attempt to connect using the client directly i.e. open the client, input your credentials then hit connect, the software doesn’t connect. If however you enter an IP address from within IE, and this IP is included in the exceptions list (see endys post above), this prompts the client to connect to VPN and is then successful.
Hope this helps someone!

Hi all.
We also have the same problem with that case as above. But we use HP iPAQ 212 Enterprise Handheld. After opening the F5 Agent, the connection is not connected automatically although when we open the Web Site that is included in the exceptions list, by using Internet Explorer, the Agent is connected. But our problem is the browser we used. We didn't use Internet Explorer in our current site, 'cause IE mobile didn't support AJAX . So we use MINIMO browser. At that time, when we connect website using minimo, the F5 Agent is not connect the VPN automatically. Everyone can know that all of the handheld is in sleep mode when we didn't touch that for a long time and at that time the VPN connection is lost. So always we open IE again and again if we want to connect the VPN using Minimo. Please if it is possible, give me the link of software which can load VPN automatically (without open IE)like FirePass Windows Tray Client(But only for Handheld).

I follow your steps but still unable to connect, or maybe I have wrong interpretation of your explanation.
If you don't mind, would you please post the detail steps ?
