iRules or configurations for pool dependency/relationship

Hello All,

 

 

I would like to know whether we can configure iRules or somewhat configurations to achieve the following goals for a pool dependency/relationship?

 

 

Client -> [F5 LTM] -> [Web Server POOL] -> [On Demand Router POOL] -> [Application Servers]

 

 

from the diagram above, Client will send a HTTP request to a Virtual IP Address of Web Server POOL on F5 LTM, F5 LTM then distribute the request to Web Server pool members.

 

However, We need to establish a pool dependency between Web Server POOL and On Demand Router POOL. in other words, if the On Demand Router POOL status is down (Members are down) then we want F5 LTM to discard any requests that destined to the Web Server POOL VIP. ( We will also use F5 GTM to handle a failover across site in this design too)

    in other words, if the On Demand Router POOL status is down (Members are down) then we want F5 LTM to discard any requests that destined to the Web Server POOL VIP.have you tried to add on demand router pool health monitor (monitor with specific alias ip and port) to web server pool? is it applicable?

     

     

    alternatively, you can use active_members to check number of available on demand router pool members.
