iRule stats not incrementing....
Hey guys.
Anyone else ever struck a situation where iRules are running (And logs prove that), but the stats for them aren't increment either the successful, failure or abort counters for any of their events?

i came across once and changing irule name fixed it. not sure if it applies yours.

Hmm... Seems to be ALL iRules. Not just one... Including system defined iRules. Note that it's not a COMPLETE absence. The _sys_http_redirect iRule says 44 executions. And ONE of the local iRules says a count of 1 on iRULE_INIT... Almost like it starts to work, and then gives up for some reason.
Was it something with the name of yours that was funny?
This is also from both the GUI and tmsh (show ltm rule) that the counters remain stubbornly idle...

no, i do not think it was about the name. it was not too long too.
does it happen on only irule or all stats (e.g. virtual, pool, etc)? is it viprion?
- HamishCirrocumulus
Nope.
- Just the iRules. Other stats (pools, VS etc) all increment OK.
- Not a Viprion. But is a vCMP... (5200v).
It gets stranger... I uploaded a qkview to iHealth. And the locally added iRules don't show up in the iHealth iRule list... Weird...

could it be mcp database/big-ip config issues? (" target="_blank">sol13030)
- HamishCirrocumulus
I would discount this as the config itself seems ok. And the iRules do run. It's the stats for them that don't increment.
FWIW I moved the traffic group away and back... Some stats started to increment. I rebooted, and stats were back. For about half a day. Then the irules stats reset to 0 and no longer increment again... Sigh...

Existing. I inherited it for a short piece of work...

we've hit the same issue, although it does appear to be load related.
We're trying to run some performance tests through some boxes and the CPU is high so we need to know which iRules (and events) are causing the problem. However we can't get any stats on even moderate load (CPU at 30%).
DId you ever find a resolution?
We have seen this issue too. We are investigating the use of "event disabled". It seems to be resetting the stats.

Thanks wire.
We also make use of event disable, especially when we need to redirect.
Something for us to investigate.
