iRule performance vs HTTP Class profile

Hi, I would like to know if an HTTP class profile will perform better than the equivalent iRule? My assumption is that they will perform identically, since (I assume that) behind the scenes, the http class profile is used to generate TCL code, and at that point there is essentially no differece. Am I mistaken?

 

We are having a debate here about which method will perform better :-P

    I'm not sure about what goes on behind the scenes but I've always been led to believe that if something can be done in the GUI then it's better then getting an iRule to do it. Couldn't remember where I'd heard this but I've found this DC article from Joe which makes mention of this:
