It's on the iRule Editor page in the far right column labeled Source Distribution. Here's the link:

So do we have iRule editor running under linux now? - Not that I'm aware of. As of now the only development I'm working on is for the windows platform.

An early version is done - I'm just cleaning a few things up and doing some basic testing before I post it.
Have a look here: http://devcentral.f5.com/Default.aspx?tabid=53&aft=1170954

Hi everyone, the vim-iruler for *nix is done and ready for beta. Please see the iRule editor forum for the announcement.

I installed the linux vim version. When I ran ":Co ip_address", it hang and eventually displayed this error:
maximum recursion depth exceeded
Error detected while processing function Connect:
line 10:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 6, in
File "", line 13, in get_objects
UnboundLocalError: local variable 'ltm' referenced before assignment
Press ENTER or type command to continue
There is no problem with login credentials.
Any idea what the cause might be?

That looks like an issue with the actual iControl object setup - that error is thrown when get_objects tries to connect to the BigIP and return some iControl objects to use. Have you confirmed this system can resolve DNS correctly? Also, be sure and pass it without any quotes (not sure if you are or not)::Co 192.168.1.245
Should get you prompted for your username and password, then connect.

1. No name resolution issue;
2. Did get prompted for username nd password and the connection hang from then on and then the error;
3. username and password confirmed OK, as they worked in the Windows version;
4. The tcp connection was in the CLOSE_WAIT state during hanging.

Can you connect successfully via a python command line? Have you confirmed the version of python your vim is compiled with is the same as your host system?

Hi Yepher,
I think you have valid points. One thing to consider is F5 don't view any iRule editor as an F5 product (as far as I'm aware). I believe, Joe Pruitt wrote the iRule editor as an example of what you could do using iControl. It's not officially developed or supported by F5 product development. Likewise, I think Matt Cauthorn wrote the iRule editor for vim as a side project without official support from F5. Maybe it's time for F5 to consider development tools as a part of the product though.
